Japan Permanent Residence Application (Eijyuken)
My tenure in Japan has reached 10 years and thus I decided to apply for permanent residence (eijyuken/永住権or 永住許可) this January. Aside from the statement of reason (riyusho/理由書) I compiled and completed all documents on my own. The following are the things I learned about the permanent residence application process here in Japan.
The Highest Paying Japanese Companies
The highest paying Japanese companies are not necessarily the largest: by industry, the large trading houses (Mitsubishi Corp., Itochu, Mitsui, Marubeni and even Sojitsu) pay the most. Trading houses are followed by TV stations and Insurance companies. M&A advisories such as GCA Savvian and Pharmaceuticals (e.g.: Takeda, Ohtsuka, etc.) are also know for their high salaries.

Azumagawa Sakura Avenue
Every spring I visit this street lined with sakura trees (cherry blossoms) in Tokorozawa city, Saitama. The 400 or so sakura trees line Azuma river for approximately 3km. The trees have lanterns hung from them and are lit up at night (April 1 to the 14th).
